Dialogue

I think people like dialogue because they can skip all the function words and get down the page faster. Dialogue isn’t important, it just ramps up your reading speed. Dialogue is the movies of fiction. Don’t know why they even bother teaching kids not to write “said” over and over, because no one could tell you whether your characters said or sighed or expressed or queried or demanded or suggested or lazily intoned.
